An institution in the Sacramento arts world, renowned for bringing diverse people together through concerts, events and education programs, the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra is a leader among local cultural institutions. Over the last decade, the Philharmonic has experienced growing attendance and critical acclaim, presenting unrivalled performances throughout the region.

In 2008, Wallrich Landi partnered with the Philharmonic to provide strategic and creative support for the organization through a full range of communications, including branding, advertising, concert promotion and Web development.

    Identity

    To appropriately reflect the orchestra’s offer to the community, Wallrich Landi updated the Philharmonic’s identity by refining its logo, adding a tagline and unlocking conductor Michael Morgan’s name from the logo treatment. The new art symbolized both “product” and “presentation” in a form that was applicable across infinite media, flexing as appropriate to capitalize on the advantages of each.

    With a refined identity and tagline in place, the Philharmonic was ready to update their business system. Careful consideration of a 2-color system accurately representing the organization’s new identity resulted in an elegant presentation of stationery and business cards.

    Season marketing collateral

    Design sensibility varied between concerts in the 07/08 season. For brand reinforcement and production economy, Wallrich Landi proposed to create a season-wide “umbrella” concept that unified all of the concerts under one cohesive design. This was applied to marketing collateral pieces including a pre-season teaser wrap, a subscription brochure and a direct-mail piece.

    The Philharmonic’s participation in a SACTO (Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization) event prompted a need for last-minute event materials. Wallrich Landi quickly developed signage for the event that cohesively tied in with the season theme.

  • E-communications

    E-communications

    Application of the season-wide “umbrella” concept didn’t stop at printed materials. To facilitate email communication reflective of the Philharmonic’s season theme, while incorporating the catchy name of their email blasts, Clef Notes, Wallrich Landi created an email header and established accompanying format standards into a template that could be used by the Philharmonic’s staff to send out information electronically.
